Technical judgment shaped by more than 200 patent cases

Juan Llano, patent engineer

I'm a mechanical engineer from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. I've spent more than 11 years working at private intellectual property firms, where I've handled more than 200 patent cases — from the initial evaluation of an invention to defending an application under objection.

My mechanical engineering background gives me a technical read on every invention: understanding how a mechanism works, what sets it apart from what already exists, and where the real inventive contribution lies. That's the judgment I translate into documents an attorney can defend with confidence.

Today I work as an outside technical partner to law firms that need that profile for a specific case, without having to bring it onto their team permanently.

Education: Mechanical Engineering, Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
